Has a first degree in Business Administration (Accounting & Marketing) and a Master of Science degree in Business Information Technology (Nanotechnology).
Robert has over forty years of sound international business experience, seven years with top Scottish shipping and freight forwarding companies. He spent six years in the Middle East as a senior executive with Olayan Group, Saudi Arabia's largest logistics, international property, plant & automotive distribution & retail trading group, during the course of this he was directly involved in many of the Kingdom's 1980's largest infrastructure & residential projects including: 1000's of Kms of mains water pipeline projects; a 5 year Bechtel JV - KKIA (Riyadh International Airport); numerous new towns with a Mabco JV (constructing over 25,000 houses & local amenities, hotels and hospitals) and Aramco road & desert logistics...
For over twenty-five years he has been running outsourced admin, consultancy & management services for companies in Scotland via the Metis Group Accountants, Tradenet International commodity traders (www.tradenetinternationalltd.com, www.tradenetllp.co.uk) and now Catabasis (www.catabasis.co.uk). A specialist in company formations and assisting business start-ups, he is Company Secretary and Commercial Advisor to a number of successful companies and charities. He has been instrumental in gaining significant grant assistance and funding for these organisations as well as ensuring sound strategic management & financial probity in their operations. For the last twenty years has been an active property developer in the commercial (www.spiersbridge.co.uk) and residential sectors, where he master-planned and gained planning consents and project finance of £30m+ for over 250 properties. He was also co-founder of the UK's Institute of Nanotechnology and retains a keen interest in all 'tiny' things innovative & environmental including all aspects of Renewable Energy generation, with ongoing projects in Hydro, Hydrogen, Solar & Wind in Scotland & overseas. He has helped to raise over £3 million over the past 25 years for West of Scotland Charities and 20+ years ago co-founded CHAP (Community Housing Advocacy Project - www.chap.org.uk) an Ardrossan & Kilmarnock based charity, employing some 20 staff serving people with housing & money issues in the West of Scotland (winner of the prestigious 2009 Ayrshire Business Excellence Award & a runner-up again in 2011).
Robert is a keen hill walker, groom, advocate of healthy life choices and enthusiastic cook.
